Maine is a healthcare battleground

Thanks - er, sort of - to the bizarre, not-quite-in-touch-with-Americans positions of our US senators, Maine has become a key battleground state for healthcare reform. Of course, a key element is that Senator Olympia Snowe is on the Senate Finance Committee, which is delaying deliberating extensively about various options. And Snowe has, it is true, shown signs of maybe starting to understand reality a bit better. (Naturally, it took her time to come up to speed since she not only has a taxpayer-subsidized health-insurance plan, but access to free care at our nation's top government hospitals.)

So here we are, getting a bit of what I think I'll call the Snowe Stimulus Package - the advertising dollars targeting her stubbornness that are pouring into Maine to convince her to do one thing or another.

Here's a brand-new radio ad from Americans United for Change, which just began running on WVOM-AM, WQCB-FM, WNZS-AM and WWNZ-AM in northern Maine, WGAN-AM, WLOB-AM/FM, WFNK-FM and WPOR-FM in southern Maine, and WTHT-FM in Auburn:

And here's a recent TV ad from them as well:
