Mamma Mia!

This post has very little to do with Portland -- although I'll justify it with the fact that Mamma Mia! will certainly screen at all the local movie theaters when it comes out later this month. And we got the soundtrack at work today. And there's not much else going on. And I'm obsessed with musicals and I can't let this soundtrack pass over my desk without some comment. Here are my initial thoughts:

-- Colin Firth is in the movie. Remember when he played the single most distinguished and proud man ever? Now he's wearing sparkly disco outfits and singing Take A Chance On Me? Hmmmm...Troubling.

-- I love Amanda Seyfried. Big Love. Veronica Mars. Mean Girls. What a resume for such a young career.

-- Meryl Streep sings Dancing Queen. This is unbelieveable! (BTW, Streep has only written one fan letter in her life -- to the Broadway cast of Mamma Mia!
